(Beijing/ Hong Kong, 24 August 2020) – CITIC Securities Company Limited (“CITIC Securities” or “the Company”; 600030.SH, 6030.HK)today announced its interim results for the six-month period ended 30 June 2020. In the first half of 2020, based on China Accounting Standards for Business Enterprises, the Company reported RMB 26.744 billion in operating income, an increase of 22.73% year-on-year. Net profit attributable to owners of the parent company was RMB 8.926 billion, an increase of 38.48% year-on-year. Earnings per share was RMB 0.70, a growth of 32.08% year- on-year.
In the first half of 2020, CITIC Securities adhered to the principle of “implementing the national strategies and serving the real economy”. In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Company actively took measures and immediate actions to expedite the resumption of work and ensure business as usual to minimise the disruption caused. At the same time, CITIC Securities and its subsidiaries donated RMB 20 million to support the combat of COVID-19 and acted as the underwriter for the issuance of epidemic prevention and control bonds for 35 companies, financed up to RMB 46.3 billion. The Company progressively pushed forward each of its business operation management works. During the review period, CITIC Securities fully leveraged its strengths to implement its client-centric strategy, intensify the coherence among its business lines through further integration, and elevate its overall client servicing capabilities. Upon the completion of the acquisition of Guangzhou Securities, the Company is currently in better position to serve the country’s strategic development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Initiative. To strengthen its professional team across the globe, the Company has implemented a global integrated vertical management strategy. At the same time, greater efforts have been placed to improve its domestic and overseas business management systems and corporate governance, with an aim to push ahead the collaboration between each business lines globally.
In the first half of 2020, the Company maintained its leading position across its business lines. The Company’s domestic equity lead underwriting amount was RMB 131.749 billion (including private placements for asset transactions) with a market share of 20.31%, ranking as the highest in the industry. The Company’s bond lead underwriting amount was RMB 563.069 billion, representing a market share of 12.85% and ranking as the highest in the industry. Customer asset under custody totaled over RMB 6.7 trillion and the total trading volume of equity funds was RMB 12 trillion. The AUM entrusted to the Company was RMB 1.42 trillion, of which the portion attributable to active management was RMB 857.524 billion. The Company’s market share in private asset management under the new asset management rules was 12.87%, also the highest in the industry.
Regarding the international business, CITIC Securities continued to focus on its expansion in key regional markets in the APAC region during the first half of 2020. Its securities brokerage, investment banking and fixed income business lines have all achieved stable growth. At the same time, the Company completed 11 Hong Kong equity underwriting totaled at USD 1.471 billion, ranking the second among domestic securites. It also completed 47 bond issuance of Chinese USD bonds totaled at USD 2.208 billion, ranking the third among domestic securites; and advised on international M&A deals regarding Chinese enterprises amounting to USD 32.3 billion, ranking the highest in the market.
